Isabel Mata, born November 17, 1945, passed away at the age of 75 on August 30, 2021. Isabel was a food connoisseur, specifically desserts and breads. She enjoyed spending her time “pushing the button” and loved visits from her family. She loved going dancing and was an enchantress in regards to men. Isabel raised her multiple children in the Downsville area and has been a long-time Waco resident. In her earlier years she worked various jobs to help support her family. In her later years, she transitioned to retirement. Isabel enjoyed making menudo for her large family on Sundays and crocheting blankets for family and new additions to the family. She prided herself on baking family members a cake for their birthday and always included a special cup of love. Isabel was the lead and only member of her apartment neighborhood watch. She loved watching the Golden Girls, The Price is Right, and the Andy Griffith Show. Isabel helped care for her various grandchildren throughout the years and was a proud great-grandmother. She had a love for Strawberry Ice Cream and she could be described as feisty, to say the least. Most of all, she was much loved and will be greatly missed.
Isabel is preceded in death by her parents Hilario and Angelita Sanchez, her brothers, Jose Guadalupe, Lizario, Hilario, Francisco, and Abel Sanchez, and her sister Marsela Chapa.
Isabel is survived by her siblings, Petra Maynard, Lidia Castillo, Mary Lou McKibben, and Braulio Sanchez; her children David Martinez Jr., his wife, Patty Martinez, Ruben Martinez, his husband, Robert Jones, Margaret Sanchez Townsend, her husband Peter Townsend, Theresa Martinez, Scott Teague, his wife Dalia Teague, Anita Harris, her husband James Harris, Rito Mata, and his wife Veronica Mata, and step-daughters, Carmen Martinez and Rita Mata.

…Until we meet again.
