Ira Clark, 93, of Hewitt, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2015, in Waco. Graveside funeral services will be 12:00 p.m., Thursday, April 2, at Killeen Veteran’s Cemetery, Killeen, TX, under the direction of Pecan Grove Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors 6 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 1, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco.
Ira was born August 22, 1921, in Kemmerer, Wyoming, to Ira Elijah Clark and Emmaline Clark. He joined the United States Army on October 15, 1940, where he served on the battle fields of Normandy, Northern France, and Central Europe in the “Battle of the Bulge”. He was discharged as Staff Sergeant of the 115th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion on August 21, 1945 at Ft. Douglas, Utah.
Ira married Dorothy Jane Blevins on September 26, 1975 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. They made their home in Hobbs, New Mexico for over 16 years before moving to Texas. Ira retired from General Motors Acceptance Corporation in 1980, and he continued to work in the auto business until he retired permanently in 2004.
Ira was preceded in death by his parents, Ira Elijah Clark and Emmaline Clark, and three sisters.
Ira is survived by his wife, Jane Clark; stepson, James Alexander; daughter, Robin Clark Thomas and husband Bert; sons, Charles Clark, and Tharrel Clark; his grandchildren, Tharon Thompson, Jerrad Bohannon, Taja Clark and her fiancée Jason Landfried, and a sister, Billy Rose.
