Jean Raines, 88, of Waco, TX, passed away on August 21, 2022. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 N. Robinson Dr. Waco. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Waco Memorial Park, 6623 I-35, Waco, with Pastor Lee Casey officiating.
Jean was born on September 8, 1933 in Riesel, TX to Lorene (Sydow) and George Richard Boatwright. Throughout her life she loved children, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, baking meringue pies that all loved and enjoyed, making Christmas candy, creating ceramics, and watching football (especially the Dallas Cowboys and the Baylor Bears). She was an excellent cook. She loved being with family, especially during the holidays. And anyone that knew her, was aware of her love of chocolate. She had a dynamic personality, and a wonderful sense of humor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lorene and George Boatwright and her husband, Wesley Edward Raines.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Jean (Becky) Cabrera and husband, Rick; sons, Wesley Glen Raines and wife, Raylene, Norman Edward Raines and wife, Kay, Greg Raines and wife, Barbara, Gary Blake Raines and wife, Susie; grandchildren, Amy Diane Urban, Matthew Raines, Sara Elizabeth Raines, Andrew Raines and wife Amy, Candice Raines; great-grandchildren, Rebecca Lauren Urban Strange, Abigail Reagan Urban; great-great-grandchildren, Tucker Wayne Strange and Gatlin Brooks Strange; sisters, Rita Joyce Denney and husband, Rick and Betty Jo Spivey and husband, Roy; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Honorary bearers will be Glen Raines, Norman Raines, Greg Raines, Blake Raines, Andrew Raines, Richard Denney, Steve Spivey, Darrell Spivey, Scott Spivey, Rick Cabrera, Danny Nobles, and Mike Rose.
