Henry (Hank) T. Norris Ed.D went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 15, 2023. A private family graveside service will be held in early October and will be officiated by Pastor Wayne Blackshear.
Hank was born on October 25, 1932, to Fred and Myrtle Norris in Nevada, Missouri. He received his bachelor’s degree from Kansas State College, his masters and specialist degrees from Emporia State University, and his doctorate in educational administration from the University of Missouri. He was a chemistry and physics teacher, superintendent of schools, and president of Moberly Area Junior College. He moved to Texas in 1976 where he was a professor at Baylor University School of Education. He was a deacon and active member of the Primrose Baptist Church.
He grew up in Nevada and married his high school sweetheart Particia June Main. Hank is survived by son, Tom and Ruth Ann Norris; daughter, Chris and Barry Horst; and his niece, Virgina Erhardt. His grandchildren, Scott Horst and his fiancée Tara, Julie Horst, Brad and his wife Ashley Norris, and Blake Norris and his fiancée Amanda. He has three great-grandchildren: Jace Horst, Hudson Norris, and Logan Norris. His great nieces and nephews, Robert Clements, Melissa Palmatory, Jon McCowan, Jeff McCowan, Mary Jo Howard, and Jared McCowan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Norris; sister, Virginia Norris; sister, June McCowan, brother-in-law, Robert D. McCowan; nephew, Gary McCowan; and his parents, Fred and Myrtle Norris.
