Helen Kathleen Thun, affectionately known as Kathleen or Kathy, went to meet her Savior on June 12, 2021 at the age of 71 after battling pulmonary fibrosis for many years. Kathleen was born in Athens, Texas on November 7, 1949 to parents Herschel Jackson and Mable (Skinner) Jackson. She excelled in school and graduated from University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree. She loved children, though she never had any of her own, and was an elementary school teacher for many years. She also served as a Sunday school teacher in her churches over the years.
Kathleen was a strong Christian who loved her church and served the Lord and others throughout her life. She was loved by all who knew her. She was always active in her church and was never too busy to listen to others and offer loving advice. She was also a confident and strong person who loved adventure. Kathleen loved traveling and was especially fond of cruises, taking more than a dozen over the years with her husband, Daniel.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents Herschel and Mable Jackson and two brothers, Dan Jackson, Sr. and Herschel Howard Jackson. She is survived by her husband Daniel Thun and four siblings, Kenneth Jackson and wife Horace Lee, Annie McGill, Richard Jackson and wife Mary, and Melba Pelley; and sister-in-law, Mary Nell Jackson. Kathleen also leaves behind numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great nieces and many friends, all of whom she loved dearly.
She will be dearly missed by all who affectionately called her “Queen”.
