Helen Delores Bryant, 85, of Waco, TX, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2022. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 12, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco, with her grandson, Pastor Marc Lambert officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors from 6 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 11, at the funeral home.
Helen was born November 10, 1936, in Claremore, OK, to Ernest and Bessie (Elam) Hays. In 1956, she married J.L. Bryant, who at the time was serving in the US Navy.
Helen worked as the front desk manager at Holiday Inn in Waco for over 39 years. She loved getting to meet new people and made many lifelong friends at work. She and her friends often met for lunch or played bingo at the circle. She also enjoyed bowling in several leagues around Waco. Helen was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Yankees. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family, especially during the holidays.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Bessie Lykins; her biological father, Ernest Hays; her husband, J.L. Bryant; and her brother, Bill Elam.
She is survived by her children, J.L. Bryant and wife Joyce, Debby Lambert, Ronda Pennington and husband Joe, Susan Dunn and husband Lamar; grandchildren, Phillip, Robert, Jeremy, Christina, Marc, Jessica, Angela, Cori, J.D, and Brittney; 23 great-grandchildren, special friend, Carrie Horn; along with many other friends and family.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Dunn, Jeremy Bryant, Lamar Dunn, J.D. Pennington II, Jess Briggs, Robert Bryant, Phillip Wilson and Timothy Robnett. Honorary pallbearer will be Joseph Betts.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. and Mrs. KB Oei for their love, kindness and friendship for 52 years.
