Guy Creighton Montgomery, 76 of Waco, passed away Monday, September 13, 2010 in Waco. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M.Thursday, September 16th at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr. with Bro. Ernie Christi officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
Guy was born on November 13, 1933 in Stockton, MO to Clyde T. and Mable J. Montgomery. He was a Christian and a member of Lake Shore Drive Church of Christ. He graduated from high school and enlisted in the United States Air Force in January of 1953. He served 10 years in the service of his country at James Connally Air Force Bace,; Nousaseur Air Force Base, French Morocco; Strategic Air Command (SAC) at Offut Air Force Base in Nebraska. He held the rank of SSG when he left the Air Force in January of 1963 and he and his family moved to Texas. He drove a truck for several companies including Grandma’s Cookies, Marlin Mills, Imperial Woodwork and was warehouse manager for Pollock Paper Co. He especially enjoyed reading about travel, Civil war and World War II history.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie; son Michael Montgomery and wife Becky; grandson, Marc Montgomery and wife Jamie, all of Lorena; brother, George Montgomery and wife Donna of Raymore, MO; 3 sisters, Reta Montgomery of Climax Springs, Mo, Grace Banta and husband Wayne of Las Animas, Colorado, Rosalie Smith and husband Robert of Canon, Colorado.
