Grady Loyd Redden, 82, of Groesbeck, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be Friday, January 30 at 2 pm at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr., Waco with Pastor Tracy Sims officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Baptist Cemetery in Riesel. Visitation will be Thursday, January 29 from 6pm to 8pm at the funeral home.
Grady was born January 26, 1933 in Box Church, Texas to George and Flossie (Oden) Redden. He attended Ben Hur schools and graduated from Mart High School. Grady joined the US Army in 1953, served in the Korean War, and was part of the military police in Germany as well as Fort Sill, Oklahoma. In 1955, he was discharged from the Army and soon after, married Shirley Young on November 9, 1956. Together they raised 3 children. Grady worked for General Tire for 30 years until he retired. Shirley passed away in 2003, then in 2004, Grady married Virginia Martin. They were together 5 years, until her passing in 2009. Grady was reunited with a former classmate, Sue Sims, and was married to her at the time of his passing. Grady was also a Grand Master Mason in the Baylor Masonic Lodge.
Grady was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sister, and his wives, Shirley and Virginia.
He is survived by his wife of 6 years, Sue Sims; children, Gary Redden and wife Suzanne, Ken Redden and Donna Norris; grandchildren, Kourtney Barrera and husband Abraham, Amanda Norris, Erica Carlson and husband Anthony, Kennon Redden, Kylia Redden and Kolton Redden; great-grandchildren, Alexander, Andrew, Abigail, Anna and Avery; step children, Tracy Sims, Ronnie Sims, and Connie Sims; and numerous step grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Marjorie Shillings and LaVerne Peters.
