Glenda Sue Hieber, 75, formerly of Robinson, went to be with her Lord on March 21st, 2014 in Kyle, Texas.
Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2014 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home 3124 Robinson Dr. The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 25 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home with Brother Cary Killough officiating. Interment services for the family will follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin.
Glenda was born on September 23, 1938 in Lott, Texas to Ansel Ross Shivers and Ruby Ilene Hillyard Shivers. She attended school in Marlin and met her future husband while attending classes at the University of Houston. On November 24, 1960, Glenda married Ronald Arthur Hieber in Houston. They lived many places in both the US and abroad, and had three daughters. After Ron’s death in 1973, she moved her family back to Texas, making her home in Robinson and beginning a long and rewarding career working at the VA Regional Offices.
Glenda was a long time member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church, and spent many years singing in the choir and teaching Sunday School. She enjoyed spending time with her church friends and especially the ladies bunco group. Glenda dearly loved her family, especially her three grandchildren, and supported many of their activities. She was an avid sports fan, faithfully cheering on her beloved Dallas Cowboys and Baylor Bears. After moving to San Marcos in 2009 to live with her youngest daughter, she attended numerous Texas State athletic events.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Glenda was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her daughters; Rhonda Welch and husband Stephen of Katy, Kristy King of Longview, Melinda Hieber of San Marcos, and grandchildren Christopher King, Kendall King and Chance Welch. She is also survived by one sister, Carol Moore of Mexia, four brothers, Gary Shivers of Bethany, OK, Ross Shivers and wife Laura of Palestine, Edward Shivers and wife Lana of Waxahachie, Millard Shivers and wife Lynn of Joshua, many beloved nieces and nephews, and special pet Roxy.
