Gene Saulters, of Robinson, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017, at the age of 78. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at Christian Life Church, 3015 N. Robinson Drive, Waco, with Pastor Robert Nelson officiating with special words by Rev. Stephen Daywitt. Interment will follow at Rosemound Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 6 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 31, at Christian Life Church.
Mr. Saulters was born January 22, 1939, in Crawford, Texas, the son of the late Elmer Jackson and Emma Jane (Brunson) Saulters and attended school at University High School in Waco. Gene spent his time watching his pride and joy, his grandson Kolten and honorary grandson, Trey play their many sports. Hopefully he could finish the games without being kicked out, because we all know they could do no wrong! He was first and foremost their #1 fan. He also enjoyed dancing, car races, playing bingo and telling many stories over coffee. Gene never met a stranger.
He was employed at various businesses including Southwest Chemical as a plant manager, a truck driver for Cash American Pawn and Thermocon. He later owned and operated Saulters Insulation Company.
Also preceding him in death were his brothers, B.W., Jim, Jack, and Paul Saulters; his sisters, Billy Webb, Ruth Gideon, Margaret Hammett, Janell Trout, and Betty Hennigan.
Survivors include two sons, Scott Saulters and wife Sarah, Rodney Saulters; two daughters, Stacy Saulters Williams and husband Don, Carol Saulters Zodrow, two sisters, Louise Treece and husband Bill, Martha Kopecky and husband Robert; grandchildren, Justin Simmons and wife Shelley, Lauren Perez, Kolten Saulters, Trey Powell; girlfriend, Elaine Scott.
Pallbearers will be Bubba Biles, Putt Delaney, Bo Powell, Fernando Fajardo, Lee Gilcrest, Dean Saulters, Shannon McCoy, and Teddy DeLeon. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Saulters, Anthony Hennigan, Doug Webb, Damon McHenry, Jimmy Webb, Mark Saulters, Danny Saulters and Phillip Saulters. Special pallbearers will be Justin Simmons, Kolten Saulters and Trey Powell.
