Genaro Palacios, 85, of Robinson, TX, passed away Sunday, October 9,2022. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:00 a.m., Saturday, October 15, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2621 Bagby Ave, Waco, TX, with Very Rev. Benjamin Magnaye as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin, TX. Visitation will be from 6 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 14, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco, with Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
Genaro was born in Robertson County December 2, 1936, to Emilio and Concepcion Piñon Palacios. When he was 17, his father passed away, leaving him to provide for his family and care for his younger siblings. He enjoyed sports and was a talented athlete. He played semi pro baseball and was an avid golfer and fisherman. He coached little league, taught baseball and was a mentor to many. He loved music and played the Bajo sexto. Genaro worked at Lanford Motors in Marlin, HA Lott Construction, Fleetwood Homes, and Wallace Business Forms. He and his family were parishioners of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. More than anything, his greatest pleasure was family gatherings with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Genaro was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert Palacios; along with many of his siblings.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elvira Palacios; daughters, Rachel Rodriguez and husband Steve, Christine Kelly and husband Daryl; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Palacios; sisters, Mary Trevino, Rose Torres; brothers, Stephen Palacios, Sr., Tomas Palacios, Sr; grandchildren, Alonzo Peralez, Omar Lugo, Rene Palacios, Aaron Palacios, Rose Lugo, Michelle Gonzalez, Michael Paul Gonzales, and Cassidy Kelly; along with 14 great-grandchildren.
