Freddie Jennings Steensen was granted her angel wings on October 1, 2015, at the age of 71. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Freddie’s home Tuesday, October 6, 2015 from 6-8pm.
Freddie was born June 25, 1944 in Waco, Texas to Henry Jennings and Theo Gentry Jennings.
Freddie graduated from Waco High in 1963. She was the owner of the Denim House in Robinson, ran the Robinson post office for many years and also worked at Owens Illinois. One of Freddie’s greatest accomplishments was getting her pilot’s license and flying her own plane. She served on the board of the Robinson Little League and managed Little League teams. Freddie’s passion was the flag girls for the rodeo. She loved giving orders and working “her” gate. She was a member of the HOT Fair & Rodeo Committee for 29 years.
Freddie married Jerry Don Hudgens later in life and enjoyed traveling and taking care of their granddaughter Destanie.
Freddie was proceeded in death by her parents, Henry and Theo Jennings; her grandmother, Ona Mae Gentry; and her husband, Jerry Don Hudgens.
She is survived by her son, Benny Steensen and wife Tammy of Robinson; daughter, Stacey Steensen and Belton Hill of Waco; granddaughters, Brianna Hensley and husband Zane of Mansfield, Lexi Steensen of Robinson, Destanie Hill of Riesel; sister, Mary Sharp and husband Jim of Robinson; niece Lindsay Walker and husband Keith of California; sister-in-law, Sue Meals of Valley Mills; and her beloved chihuahua, Little Bit.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Meals on Wheels, 501 W. Waco Dr., Waco, 76707 or any local animal shelter.
