Forest “ Butch” Reel Jr. , 60, of Robinson went home to be with his Savior on Wednesday, November 27th, 2013, as he was surrounded at home by his wife, children and grandkids. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, Nov.30,at Cornerstone Baptist Church with lifetime friend Rev. Jim Daniels officiating. Burial will follow at Robinson Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8:00 pm Friday, Nov. 29, at Pecan Grove F.H. 3124 Robinson Dr. Butch was born in Noblesville, Indiana on February 19th, 1953 to Forest and Bernice Reel. In Noblesville, he excelled in sports and went on to become an All-American running back. He was recruited to play football for Baylor University, and moved to Waco in 1971. Butch graduated from Baylor in 1975, where he was a part of the 1974 Southwest Conference championship team. Butch went on to graduate from Wesley Biblical Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi. From there, he answered his call to pastor, and served as senior pastor in churches in Indiana, West Virginia, and Texas, where he touched many lives. He was preceded in death by his father, Forest Reel Sr. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Kathy Reel, his oldest son Forest Reel III and wife Angela, his daughter Stephanie Galvez, his youngest son Jeffrey Reel, his mother Bernice Heiney and husband Glen, his sister Linda Nicholson and husband Steve, and his brother Glen Reel and wife Beth; son-in-law Steven Galvez; 10 grandchildren Kaci, Jordyn, Danni, Kaylee, Ally, Grant, Andrea, Jaxon, Mia, Pita, and many other nieces, nephews and family members who loved him dearly.
Butch’s life was marked by his compassion for others and his love for Jesus. He will forever be remembered and loved by everyone who knew him and the way he sang “Ship-Ahoy”. .
