Florence E. McNeil, 85, passed away July 11, 2019. She was born in Seagraves, TX on January 19, 1934. Florence was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and was greatly loved. She graduated high school in Brownwood, and attended Nursing school in Dallas. On January 11, 1952, she married Jimmy McNeil and lived in Brownwood. In 1958, they moved to Waco, where they established Star Electric, as well as other businesses through the years. She worked as a bookkeeper for the family businesses, as well as being a mother and homemaker. She was devoted to raising her family and supporting her husband. Her biggest challenge was keeping her husband, Jimmy, in line. She will be remembered for her love and devotion for God. She taught Sunday School for over 40 years, as well as Bible and book studies. She became a Christian in her early twenties, and remained active in her walk with her Lord until her final hours. She especially enjoyed singing in the church choir, and teaching women’s classes, mentored many ladies throughout the years. She met many of her closest friends in church, and has kept in touch with them throughout the years. She and Jimmy also enjoyed traveling with friends Billie and Burns Tongate for many years. Together, they traveled all over the United States, Mexico, and Europe.
She was preceded in death by her parents, JW Kimbell and Leona Gill; Sisters Jewel Sledge and Joyce Brown, Brother Edward Kimbell; Granddaughter Lesa Santellana, Niece Deanna Yoes, and Great-Niece McKenzie Cox.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Jimmy McNeil; Children Theresa Covin and husband Gary, Kathy Moore and husband Jim, Charlotte Ingram and husband Greg. Grandchildren Charles Covin, Bradley Covin, Julie Covin, Michael Cook, Brian Cook, Rebecca Urbanovsky, Jimmie Moore III, Marissa Ingram, Jacob Ingram, and Gabe Ingram. She had 12 Great-Children, Tyler, Justin, Wesley, Garrison, Sabrina, Paisley Joy, Benjamin, Vera, Emilie Jo, Kynleigh, Hadley, and Douglas, and 1 Great-Great Grandson, Taylen, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and long time family friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2019 from 4-6 p.m. at Pecan Grove Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be on Monday, July 15, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, followed by burial at Ater Cemetery, with Pastors Marvin Donnell and Roy Marshall officiating.
