Evelyn Horak Schroeder was called to glory on December 21, 2022. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 30, 2022 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr. Waco. Burial will immediately follow at Waco Memorial Park, Waco. There will be a visitation one hour prior to service beginning at 10 a.m.
Evelyn was born December 30, 1926 in Schulenburg Texas to Joseph and Lillian (Cernoch) Horak. She was baptized on January 11, 1927, in St. Rose’s Catholic Church in Schulenburg, Texas. She was reconfirmed in God’s Grace and her Faith on October 25, 1946, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Waco, Texas. Evelyn Attended Griffin School near Penelope, Texas and in 1943 graduated from Penelope High School, Penelope, Texas.
On August 3, 1946, Evelyn married Rienhard O. Schroeder at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Waco, Texas. Their union was blessed with two children, daughter, Cynthia and son, Rodney. They lived in Waco, Texas their entire married life.
Evelyn worked in Washington D.C. for the war department during World War II. After returning home, she worked as a bookkeeper for several Waco businesses. She also had her own bookkeeping and income tax service.
Evelyn enjoyed playing dominoes, shopping, working puzzles and word search puzzles, fishing and most of all cooking for her family.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband of sixty-nine years; sisters, Henrietta Kalisek and Mary Courtade; and two brothers, Joe Horak and Edwin Horak.
She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Rose and husband Joe Rose of Marble Falls, TX; son, Rodney Schroeder and wife Roberta of Tyler, TX; granddaughter, Aubrey Tolentino and husband Cristian of San Antonio, TX; grandson, David Rose of Marble Falls, TX; grandson, Aaron Schroeder of Seattle, WA; great -grandson, Sean Ferrell of Houston, TX.
