God called another angel home. On November 13th, 2014, Evelyn Marie Batey Parsons went home to be with the Lord with her loving family by her side. Evelyn was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Monday, November 17, 2014 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Waco. The family will receive visitors 3 – 5:00 p.m., Sunday, November 16, at the funeral home.
She was born in Marlin, Texas April 16, 1935 to Wynn Batey and Eythel Lee Alvey. She married Andrew C. Parsons in 1951 in Waco, TX Together they started their family by picking cotton for a living as did many during that time. They raised four children. She co-founded Parsons Drywall and Roofing, and the 7 Gables Ranch which later became Texas Safari. She worked side by side with her husband and children in the family businesses. She became a legend in the drywall business due to the fact she could hang drywall as fast as any man. Most were amazed that such a beautiful woman could hang sheetrock. Her likeness to Elizabeth Taylor gave her the nickname “Little Liz”. She was a great animal lover and advocate for them.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, Wynn & Eythel Lee Alvey Batey, three brothers, Wynn Batey Jr, John Batey, Dan Batey, and sister, Bessie Batey, daughter Brenda Rena Parsons, son, Joseph Daniel Parsons, and grandson, Brandon Parsons.
She is survived by one sister, Stella Stevens, one brother Wynnfred Batey, two sons, Andrew C. Parsons, Jr. & wife Sharon, Stuart E. Parsons, Sr. & wife Rebecca, daughter, Linda Kay Parsons Lankford & husband Donald.Grandchildren: Andrew C. Parsons, III, Cati Parsons Beatty, Codi Parsons, Stuart E. Parsons Jr., Shannon Parsons, Joseph Parsons Jr., Chemise Parsons, Jody D. Parsons, Rena Parsons Villa, Levi Lankford, Cody Lankford, Christopher Stroud, Michael Stroud, and Dena Stroud; 22 great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
