Evelyn Dresner

Evelyn Louise (Mama Drez) Dresner, 71, of Bosqueville, died Friday, January 17, 2014 at a local hospital, following a lengthy illness. A memorial service is scheduled for 10am on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home in Waco, the Reverend Jeff Wyers officiating. A visitation with family is planned from 9am to 10 am prior to the service.
Evelyn was born to Alvie Lee Temples and the former Cecelia Lowrance in rural Lee County, Texas. She was reared in various areas of Central Texas, and attended schools in Ross, West and LaVega school districts. She married Laurence David Dresner on February 16, 1963 and they lived in the Waco area most of their marriage. He preceded her in death on February 11, 2000.
Evelyn worked for the Waco Police Department as a police dispatcher for 21 years, retiring in 2004. During her time at the P.D. she had many exciting events unfold, including the Branch Davidian conflict.
Evelyn had a love for animals, be it dogs or cats. You would always find either a cat or dog around, or an active bird feeder. Some of her favorite pastimes included watching her dogs run the yard and the hummingbirds battle it out for access to the feeder. She also had a favorite redbird that frequented the area feeder as well. She enjoyed playing ‘old school’ computer games like Solitaire, FreeCell and Snood. She also enjoyed her weekly ‘girls day out’ with her best friend Sally. Evelyn was also a ‘mom ‘of sorts to the neighborhood kids. There wasn’t a time that you couldn’t find one of her ‘kids’ eating a meal or lounging on one of couches.
Evelyn was preceded in death by husband, both of her parents, brothers Ray Temples, Alton Temples, W.B. “Dub” Temples, and her sister, Maxine Hurst.
Evelyn is survived by her sons, David Dresner and wife Tricia of Leroy, Paul Dresner and wife Stacey of Waco, Chris Dresner of Bosqueville; daughter Melissa Dresner of Bosqueville; brothers Lonnie Temples and wife Connie of Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee, George Temple of Pleasantville, Tennessee; grandchildren Haley Dresner, Cody Dresner, Evan Trollinger, Colby Dresner, Allie Dresner, Launa Haase, David Haase III, Hannah
