Eva was born April 6, 1934 to Walter Lee and Edith (Bankhead) Bates in Oglesby. She was the 7th daughter born to this family. Eva was surrounded by the love of her sisters as they all met weekly every Wednesday to spend the day together laughing and catching up. Family reunions were one of her most cherished times as this group was fun, loud and large. She enjoyed her hobbies and loved her flowerbed iris. Eva made clothes for her grandchildren as babies, quilt making, sewing, puzzles and spending time with her family, but when it was time for rest, she made sure that you knew it was time to leave. Eva also loved her 1964 Black Chevrolet Impala, and she was known to race around town taking care of her errands. She was feisty, full of humor and life and loved being busy. She took care of so many and gave so much to all she encountered.
Eva married Clark (W.C.) Terry in June 1951 and they moved to Waco. She was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church where she and her husband Clark (W.C. Terry) were members for over 50 years and the caretakes of the building and grounds for over 30 years. Meadowbrook became their church family and held numerous weddings and baptisms for this family. Clark taught Eva how to drive an 18-wheeler as Clark was a long-haul truck driver over the road, and she accompanied him and would eventually drive on some of their trips covering 45 states. She was cherished and respected by so many and will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 7 sisters and their husbands and will be laid to rest beside her husband of 67 years Clark (W.C.) Terry.
Eva is survived by her son, Charles Ray Terry and wife Laura of Robinson; daughters, Brenda (Terry) Paulson and husband Tony of Spring, Mary Peebles of Austin; grandchildren, Tracy Key of Austin, Julie (Watson) Smith and husband Chris of Weatherford, Dustin Marlin and wife Quinn of Lexington; Clinton Watson of Waxahachie, Raymond Terry of Robinson; Reid Terry and wife Bailee of Axtell; as well as many great- grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers for Eva’s service will be her and (W.C.’s) beloved grandsons and great grandsons. Dustin Marlin, Clinton Watson, Raymond Terry, Reid Terry, Bryan Gunter, Brayden Terry and grandson-in-law Chris Smith.
