Erma Burts

Erma Jean Lewis Burts , 86, of Rosebud, Texas went home to see Jesus Saturday, February 25, 2017. Services will be at Pecan Grove Funeral Home 3124, Robinson Dr. at 1 pm, on Friday, March 3, with Pastor Larry Jinks Officiating. She will be cremated and later interred with her parents at South Land Memorial Park in Grand Prairie, Texas. Erma was born in Paint Rock, Alabama, on January 22, 1931, to Auburn Austin Lewis and Mattie Violet Gwathney.


With a 8th grade education, she raised her daughter as a single mother in the 50's and 60's. She worked most of her career manufacturing electronic circuits for computers and missles. She retired in April,1993, at the age of 62.


She lived in Grand Prairie for most of her life and moved to the Rosebud, Texas in 2007 to be a part of the family farm where she lived until her death.


Erma is preceded in death by her siblings, Alton Austin Lewis, Bettie Joyce Foster and Melvin Kaye Lewis and her parents.

Erma is survived by her daughter Vicki Prather and husband Richard of Pflugerville, Texas; two granddaughters: Trasdy Newman and Brenna Prather; 5 great-grandchildren: Levi, Abigail, Kaybrei, John Jr., and Dylann and many nephews and nieces.
