Elmer "Don" Honaker

Elmer Donald "Don" Honaker went to be with his Lord, Thursday, April 30, 2020. He was born March 19, 1933 in Honaker Russell County, Virginia to James Monroe Honaker and Bessie E. Bales Honaker. He was the youngest of six children.

He graduated from Honaker High School in 1952. Upon graduation, he joined the United States Air Force, where he served as a communications officer for 8 years, and he was a veteran of the Korean War.

Don accepted Christ as his Savior on October 25, 1959 and surrendered to preach the gospel on March 18, 1962. His life was dedicated to preaching the Word, with Don sharing his last public sermon in 2015. Don referenced Psalms 19:14 in the front cover of his bible.

Psalms 19:14 "Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer."

Don was richly blessed to meet and marry Ruby Dell Bennett. They wed on March 19, 1955 and shared 48 years of marriage until Ruby's death on December 27, 2003. They had two children, Rickey Donald Honaker, and Deanna Robin Lewis. Don was richly blessed a second time, when he met and married Mary Evelyn Prescott Guest. He and Evelyn wed on September 23, 2011. They shared their life together until his passing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and one sister. He is survived by his wife Evelyn Honaker of Waco; his son Rickey and wife Kathy of Haltom City; his daughter Robin and husband Kenneth Lewis of Chilton; stepson Keith and wife Melissa of Waco; 5 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.

A private graveside service will he held for the family.
