Ellis Farris, 92, a longtime resident of Waco, died peacefully Friday morning in a Temple hospital. Services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, February 3 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home in Waco with Reverend Thom Lamb officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 pm. Sunday, February 2, at the funeral home.
Mr. Farris was born February 14, 1921 in Coryell County, the son of the late Harvey and Bertha Farris of Lorena. He was a retired diesel mechanic and was best known for his work ethic, his ingenuity, and his sense of humor.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Farris. His immediate family included, his daughters Patsy Farris, Nancy Reynolds and husband Tom, Sue Gilbert (deceased), and Shirley Farris (deceased). He was extremely proud of his three grandsons, Corey Barton and wife Kendra, John Martin and wife Jana, Richard Martin and partner Vern Gransden, and his two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Kayla Barton.
He is survived by a brother, Edgar Farris and wife Gladys of McGregor, a sister Doris Trammel of Wolfe City, sister-in-law Bobbie Farris of McGregor, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers Vernie Farris, Vinice Farris, and a sister Lois Tull.
Mr. Farris will be greatly missed by his friends and his family.
