Longtime Robinson resident, Elizabeth LaVerne King, passed away at her home in Golinda, on February 1, 2016, at the age of eighty-two years, ten months, and eleven days. Mrs. King was born in Hubbard, Texas, on March 21, 1933. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thurs., Feb. 4, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 N Robinson Drive, Waco, with interment to follow at Robinson Cemetery. Rev. Jerry Freedman, pastor of the Bethel Methodist Church of Robinson, will conduct the service. The family will receive visitors at Pecan Grove Funeral Home Wed., Feb. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Elizabeth LaVerne Thrash and S L “Shorty” King were married on April 10, 1948 in Downsville, Texas. To their union were born six children. She was a longtime member of the Downsville Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Lanette Hooper, and husband Michael of Golinda, four sons: Randall Carl King and wife, Denise of Waxahachie, Larry Gene King of Austin, David Alan King of Austin, and Robert Mark King and wife, Tina of Liberty Hill; brother, Roy O. Thrash of Dallas; sister, Flora Parmer and husband, Gene of Dallas; along with nineteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren; plus numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, S L “Shorty” King, a daughter, Yvonna Rae Osborne, by her father, Roy W. Thrash and mother, Ruby Thrash, and by a sister Delores Corbin.
Pallbearers will be her six oldest grandsons: Chris Alaminski, Sean Medlin, Heath Wigley, Jeremy Medlin, Josh Medlin and Brandon King. Honorary pallbearers will be her other grandsons: Jordan Hooper, Garrett King, Cody King, Derek King, Justin King and Evan Jenkins.
