Edward “Ed” Andrew Schaeper of Robinson, Texas, was born July 27, 1928, in China Spring, Texas, to Adolf and Clara Schaeper. He passed away at the age of 89 years on Tuesday, October 17, 2017. Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 19, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco, TX. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 20, at Robinson Cemetery, in Robinson, TX, with Pastor David Cozart officiating.
Ed married Pauline “Polly” Markum on July 1, 1950, in the Evangelical and Reformed Church in Robinson, TX; and lived in the home they had built for 62 years. Edward worked for L.L. Sams Church Furniture, Texas Coffin Company, Steakley Chevrolet and retired from Bird-Kultgen Ford in 1991 as an Automobile Paint Technician. He enjoyed traveling, hunting deer and wild turkey, playing 42 with his friends and family, and gardening and raising cattle. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and spoiling his great-grandchildren. He served on the Robinson Volunteer Fire Department starting as a charter member in 1955.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
Ed is survived by his wife of 67 years. His children, Stephen, Calvin, Sr., and wife Anita and Todd Schaeper, all of Robinson; grandchildren: Rachel Schaeper and Adam Wiley; Calvin, Jr., and wife Jaime Schaeper; Russell and Rocky Schaeper. Great-grandchildren: Haley, Sophia, and Henry Markum Wiley; Kaden Andrew, Layla Mae, Callie Rae, Brody and Oliver Schaeper, A sister, Lou Cude. A brother and wife John and Gladys Schaeper. A brother-in-law and wife David and Abbie Markum. Many loved nephews and nieces, friends and families by longtime friendships: Billy and Wendy Solomon family, Betty Hubbard family, Mark and Melissa Miller family, and Bobby and Paula Strickland family.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Calvin, Jr., Russell and Rocky Schaeper; and Leonard Shows; Billy Solomon and Gary Biddle.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Miller, Wayne Sharpless, Joe Barton and J.T. McLearen.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caregivers at Providence Hospice; nurses on 4 North at Providence Hospital and all of his doctors.
