Edna Allene Rothe went to be with her Lord and family on September 20, 2016, at St. Catherines Nursing Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 24, at Golinda Baptist Church, with Pastor Morgan Woodard officiating and obituary ready by her grandson, Curtis Dwayne Rothe. Burial will follow at Cottonwood Cemetery in Falls County. The family will receive visitors 6 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 23, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco.
Allene was born April 1, 1921, to Ophelia and Buford Johnson. She married Alton Rothe on Nov. 30, 1940. She was a housewife and worked with Alton on the farm and with custom combining. She enjoyed playing games, cooking, crafts, sewing and her church activities. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her family and friends.
Allene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alton Rothe; and son Curtis Rothe; also, three sisters, Judy Pick, Clara Johnson, and Mildred Schaeper; and two brothers, Eldon Johnson and Garland Johnson.
Allene will be cherished and remembered by her two daughters, Janie Hall and husband Richard, and Virginia Lewis and husband Richard; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
