Edison 'Frank' Franklin Johnson

Edison Franklin Johnson passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at his home in Bruceville, Texas. Funeral services will be 10am, Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, with Bishop Paul Romer officiating. Burial will follow at Mooreville Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8pm, Monday, March 31, at the funeral home.

Frank was born on March 13, 1952, in Waco, Texas, the son of Billy Earl and Ova LaVerne (Maricle) Johnson. After graduating from Chilton High School, Frank enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was trained in Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD). He married Elizabeth Faye Thrasher in Bethesda, Maryland, on September 28, 1972. Frank retired from the Navy at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3 after 20 years of dedicated service, for which he received many honors, and where he developed many lasting friendships. After retirement Frank moved to Bruceville and continued to travel the world as a military contractor and in other capacities where his EOD skills were needed. He helped dispose of the extensive Iraqi bomb arsenal during Operation Iraqi Freedom and searched fields in Texas for debris from the Space Shuttle Columbia, which broke up upon re-entry. He also performed contract work in Vieques, Hawaii, Afghanistan, Canada, Panama, and numerous other locations in the United States. Frank was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who dedicated his life to providing for his family and helping others.

Preceding Frank in death were his parents.

Frank is survived by his loving wife, Faye, his daughters, Brandy Romer and husband Paul of Temple, Texas, and Tonya Kuykendall and husband Jason of Lorena, Texas. He also is survived by his beloved grandchildren, Paul Romer and wife Ericka; Rebekah Dipko and husband Kawika; Isaac Romer and wife Lizzy; Emma Romer; Jake Kuykendall and Tabitha Kuykendall; and by his precious great-grandchildren, Truman and Elaine Dipko. Frank also is survived by his brother, Harvey Johnson and wife Barbara; his sister, Jewel Boykin and James; along with many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express a heartfelt thanks to Gerald Salmon and Brittany Heyworth with Caring Senior Service for their excellent care of Frank.

Pallbearers will be Jason Kuykendall, Paul Ivan Romer, Jacob Kuykendall, Kawika Dipko, Jeremy Johnson, and Steve Edgar. Honorary pallbearers will be Harvey Johnson, Paul Aaron Romer, Isaac Romer, and Jamie Johnson.

Memorials may be made to the Missionary fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
