Edward (Eddie) Sotelo González, of San Antonio, Texas, won the good race and was united with our Lord on Friday, June 6th, 2014, at the age of 77. The family will receive visitors, Wednesday, June 11, 2014, from 12- 2 pm at Pecan Grove Funeral Home 3124 Robinson Dr. Services will begin at 2 pm Wednesday, following the visitation at the funeral home, with his son Pastor Mark González officiating.
He was born on May 20th, 1937, in San Antonio, Texas, to Lucio & Juanita Sotelo González. In his earlier years he served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He also owned and operated his own auto collision business. Eddie then dedicated his life to the ministry serving the Lord for almost 50 years. He pastored various churches throughout Texas focusing on church start-ups. During those years, he held positions of pastor, evangelist, teacher, and missionary. Eddie was passionate about his love for God and his family. The last six years of his life he spent as a foreign missionary in Veracruz, Mexico, living among the people where God lead him to minister.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert and Johnnie.
He is survived by his six children, Liz Palacios and husband Robert of Robinson; Ed González, of New Caney; Mark González and wife Blanca of Atlanta, GA; MariAnne Okafor of Waco; Moses González of Houston; Alice González of Houston; three brothers, Lucio González of San Antonio, Louis González and wife Terri, of San Antonio; and Richard González and wife Susan of Ogden, UT; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his former wife and steadfast friend, Minerva González.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and mentor to many. His testimony as a servant of God has inspired many to walk with the Lord and some to pursue the ministry. Our dad’s legacy will continue through his family and friends.
