Earnestine Schmedthorst

Earnestine “Tina” Schmedthorst, of Mart, passed away Tuesday evening, Dec. 13, 2016, at the age of 76. A funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Friday at Pecan Grove Funeral.
Mrs. Schmedthorst was born May 11, 1940, in Belsona, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Ernest Wesley and Carrie Oleta (Skelton) Roberts. She attended LaVega High School and 4-C Business College. For many years, she was employed by Behrens Drug Co. as an Administrative Assistant. On Feb. 4, 1984, she married Harding Schmedthorst at Trinity Lutheran Church in Riesel.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed playing dominos, sewing, taking part in family reunions, collecting vintage glassware from estate sales, auctions and flea markets. She had a deep love for animals, especially dogs.
Also preceding her in death was a niece, Rhonda Donnell.
Survivors include her husband Harding Schmedthorst; a daughter Denise Venuti and husband Doug; two sisters, Debbie Savins, and Dianne Yates; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Venuti, and Emily Venuti; a niece Mandy Savins; two nephews Michael Wilkins, and Clayton Wilkins; step-son, Jeff Schmedthorst, Step-daughter, Lisa Jackson and many other nieces and nephews.
For those desiring, the family has suggested memorials be made to an animal shelter of the donor’s own choosing.
