Dorothy Federwisch

April 10, 1920 — September 5, 2014

Dorothy Faye Federwisch went to be with her Lord and Savior and to join her husband and family in Heaven on Friday morning, September 5, 2014. She passed away on the birthday of her beloved sister, Ruth. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 8, 2014 at Friedens Evangelical & Reformed United Church of Christ in Riesel with Rev. Barney Federwisch officiating. Burial will follow at Friedens Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, September 7 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr.
Dorothy was born to Alfred and Mary (Marek) Matthys in Wharton, Texas. As a girl, she moved with her family to New Mexico before settling in Riesel and making her home there. She married Otto Federwisch on October 6, 1938. Otto and Dorothy farmed and ranched together on the Federwisch home place for over 67 years. Dorothy enjoyed her life on the farm and loved all animals. Many times she would bottle feed a baby calf. She also enjoyed family gatherings. She was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ in Riesel. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband and soul mate, Otto; her infant daughter, Billie Jo; sisters, Ruth Federwisch and husband Fred, Anna Gilbert and husband Will; brothers, Frank and Clarence Matthys, all of Riesel and son-in-law, Tommy Moon of China Spring.
Those left to cherish her memory are daughter, Peggy Moon of China Spring; son, Rick Federwisch and wife Shun Dale of Brenham; godson, Barney Federwisch and wife Rose of Houston; brother, Roy Matthys and wife Mercy of California; grandchildren, Terry D. Moon and wife Marla of Burton, Lindsey Harrison and husband Graig, Derek Federwisch and Kaci Federwisch all of Brenham; great-grandchildren, Mason Moon and Carmen and Adilynn Lange. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends.
Memorials may be made to Friedens UCC Church in Riesel or to the Friedens Cemetery.
