Dorethea A. Irven, 73, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2015. A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 24, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco.
Dorethea was born September 4, 1942. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jerry, in 2002. Dorethea was a teacher, working in Arizona and Texas. She retired from the Waco Independent School District. Dorethea loved to dance. One evening while dancing in Salado, TX, she met Charles Fleet, whom she later married. Theirs was a marriage made in heaven. Together they shared many wonderful times traveling across the United States and to Mexico. She loved to go to Oklahoma and Louisiana gambling at the casinos. She also loved fishing and rodeos, especially barrel racing and cutting horses. Dorethea and Charles were members of Central United Methodist Church. She was always concerned with how others around her were doing and never complained once about her illness.
Dorethea was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Jerry.
Dorethea is survived by her husband, Charles Fleet; sons, Charles Fleet, Jr., Waylon Garrett Fleet; daughters, Renee Fleet and husband Jeff, Lorna Marie Fleet; brother, Kenneth Rhymes and wife Jackie; sisters, Kathy Robbins and husband Bill, Sheila Rhymes. She is also survived by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
After Dorethea was diagnosed with cancer, Charles took over as her selfless and constant caregiver, reflecting his incredible love and support.
