Donald Ray Brunson, 71, of Lorena, passed away at his home surrounded by his family and friends on Sunday, December 28, 2014. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 3, 2015, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco, with Rev. Vernon Gatlin and Pastor Greg Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 6 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 2, at the funeral home.
Donald was born April 10, 1943 in Waco to George and Vida Mae Brunson. He loved to fish and to go camping with friends and relatives. Donald coached his kids and grandkids in baseball little league for many years. He worked at General Dynamics, A.O. Smith, and Tymco. He retired from M&M Mars with 25 years of service.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother –in-law, Dorothy and Daniel Reich; brothers, Doyle, Billy, Lloyd, and David Brunson.
Donald is survived by his wife of 51 years of marriage, Shirley Gatlin Brunson; son Jerry Wayne Brunson and wife Shana; daughter, Debi Mullins and husband Randy; grandsons, Aaron Jo Brunson, Tanner Ray Feldman, and Chance Wayne Feldman; granddaughter, Chasity Watson Brunson; step-grandchildren, Kaylin and Travis Edwards, and Jeremy, Cheyenne, and Sami Mullins; step-great-grandchildren, Hayden, Jaxson, J.R. and Bella Mullins; brothers, Jerry Don Brunson and wife Tamera, George Brunson and wife Pat; half-sister Gwen Nelson, and step-brother Larry Duett and wife Suzanne; sisters-in-law, Mary, Barbara, Pat, Marilyn Brunson, and, Jean Gatlin; and brother-in-law, Billy Gatlin. He is also survived by dear friends that he loved like family, Olan and Cyble Saulter and family; Billy and Pam Power and family, and Meagan Maynard Kuykendall and family. Donald was also a role model and a great blessing to many nieces and nephews, and other special friends.
The family has much appreciation for Scott & White Hospice staff, along with Dr. Raley, and Dr. Falcone for their sincere care for his health.
The family would also like to express their great appreciation for Jimmy Stewart and Adrian Fikes for their many calls and visits.
