Donald W. Bailey, 79, of McGregor, TX, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2022.
The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, December 21, from 6 to 8 PM at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 N. Robinson Dr. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, December 22, at 10 AM at Rosemound Cemetery in Waco, TX. Pastor Steve Adams from Parkview Baptist Church will be officiating.
Donald was born on November 25, 1943 in Waco, TX to Bertha (Kent) and Woodrow Bailey. He attended South Waco Elementary and University High School. He was a truck driver for 42 years for various companies. He also worked as a serviceman for Mosely Machinery Co. in Waco, TX. He traveled all over the U.S. to London and South Africa servicing heavy hydraulic machinery.
Donald loved music. His favorite was bluegrass gospel music. He was born with music deep in his soul. He played the guitar and the banjo. After retiring, he played music for nursing home residents. He was very loved by his family and has left an empty void in the lives of those who loved him.
Donald was preceded in death by his father, Woodrow Bailey; his mother, Bertha Bailey; daughter, Anna Maguire; and son, Donald Wilson Bailey, Jr.
Donald is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sherry Bailey; two daughters, Donna Herring Burchfield and Mindy Ray; three step-children, Chymene McAdams, Johnny Whiteside, Jr., and Steve Whiteside; two sisters, Phyllis Beene and Cindy Hastings (husband Greg); 7 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 9 great-step-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
