Dollie Davis

October 24, 1922 — May 15, 2013

Dollie Marie Ludwig Davis 90, of Waco, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 15, 2013. A graveside service will be 9:30 am Saturday, May 18, at Waco Memorial Park with Pastor Roy Marshall officiating. The family will receive visitors Friday from 7-8:30 pm at Pecan Grove Funeral Home 3124 Robinson Dr.
She was born on October 24, 1922 in Otto, Texas to Walter and Annie Ludwig. On December 11, 1941 Dollie married John H. Davis of Waco, a marriage that was to last seventy years ending with John’s death in November, 2012. Dollie worked in fashion retail for more than thirty years. She began working for the Career Girl Shop in downtown Waco. When she and her family moved to Dallas in 1957, she became an assistant buyer for Titche’s department store. After working as a buyer for The Fair department stores, Dollie had a long career in management with J. C. Penney. Her work life fittingly ended where it had begun when she became manager of the Career Girl Shop in Richland Mall and worked there until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by husband John H. Davis; the older of her two sons, Kenneth Wayne; her parents; three brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her son Larry and his wife Linda, daughter-in-law Carolyn Davis, granddaughters Catherine Tran and husband Steve, Christine Wolfe and husband George, Shannon Lefevre and husband Matthew as well as numerous nieces and nephews. John and Dollie were also blessed with seven great granddaughters, Brittni, Jolie, and Emily Tran, Haley and Lila Wolfe, Chloe and Laney Lefevre.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Her love for her family was second only to her love for the Lord. The last two years were particularly difficult for her, and the family is grateful that she is now at peace with John and Kenneth. An expression of special thanks goes to her niece, Helen Haferkamp, for the loving care she gave to Dollie during the last years of her life.
