Dixie Hammonds

Dixie Lou Hammonds (GiGi), 92 of Rosenberg, Texas passed away peacefully with her family by her side on January 10, 2024, in Rosenberg.
She was born in San Antonio, Texas on May 22, 1931, and was raised in Waco by her parents, Vera Loretta (Campbell) and Otis (Boots) Arnold. She graduated from Waco High School in May 1949 and married Bobbie Neal Hammonds in June 1949. She retired from Piggly Wiggly in Waco in 1986 and moved to Richmond, Texas to spend time with her grandchildren. She loved sewing, reading novels, country western music, dancing, listening to her children karaoke, and playing Yahtzee with her grandchildren.
Dixie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Billy Dean Arnold; and brother- in- law, Don Schaeper.
She is survived by her five children, Lana Wilson, Pam Schaeper-Noe, Stephen Hammonds, Cindy Gracia and husband Rick, Rick Hammonds and wife Betty; her sister Vondel Schaeper and sister-in-law Rita Arnold, along with seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Michael Schaeper, Rick Gracia, Brant Gracia, Jerry Schermerhorn, Rick Hammonds, and Stephen Hammonds.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ, 100 S. Robinson Drive, Robinson, Texas.
