Diana Lynn (Overby) Tye, 66, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 24, 2022, in her Waco home, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.
On August 17, 1955, Diane was born to Willie Dee (Bill) Sr. & Rojean (Jean) Overby in Waco, TX. She grew up surrounded by a large family. Diane was proud of her family. She was a loving and caring woman, always willing to lend a hand and putting others before herself.
Diane married Ronald Tye on May 19, 1973. The two were lifelong companions and friends and were blessed with two children, Michael and Ashley. Diane was a dedicated mother. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Chicken Nana. Her favorite past times were camping, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Diane also took great pride in her work. Diane had many years with LaVega ISD, where she retired after 24 years of service.
Diane is preceded in death by her parents, a sister Jan Rushin, a brother Willie Overby Jr., a son Kevin Tye, and a son-in-law Dillon Davis.
Diane is survived by her husband Ronald Tye of Waco, a son Michael Tye of Waco, a daughter Ashley Patterson & husband Bobby of Moody, a sister Belinda Athey & husband Ray of Chilton, a sister Judy Brinegar of Gatesville, ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held at Pecan Grove Funeral Home on Friday, May 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral will be held the following day at 9 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial services to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Diane was loved dearly, and her tenacity, resilience, grace, undying love, and caring for everyone will never be forgotten but dearly missed.
