Delores Ann Johnson, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away surrounded by her daughters on March 24, 2024, in Crawford, Texas. Born on November 19, 1946, in Waco, Texas to Raymond and Blanche Smith, Delores leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication that touched the lives of many.
Delores led a fulfilling life marked by dedication and love. Her journey began at Waco High School, where she graduated in 1965. Her active involvement in various clubs and organizations, such as the Berry Service Club, Future Homemakers of America, Pan American Student Forum, Press Club, Voice Club, Office Assistant, G.A.A, and as a member of the WACOAN Staff, showcased her passion for community and service.
She married her high school sweetheart Leslie Johnson on April 10, 1965, marking the beginning of a beautiful partnership. They have four children.
Delores dedicated 44 years to AT&T, starting with Southwestern Bell in Corpus Christi. Her time at AT&T was not just about work; it was about building lasting friendships that she treasured dearly.
Known for her culinary prowess, Delores delighted all with her signature dishes. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and joy where laughter filled the air.
Outside of the kitchen, Delores had a creative side. She was a talented artist and writer, known for her beautiful poetry. She also enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, playing computer games, and talking with family and friends on the phone, especially with Sandra, Martha, and Denice.
Delores's infectious smile, hearty laugh, and selfless nature endeared her to all who knew her. Her unconditional love and ability to spread happiness wherever she went left a lasting impact on those around her.
Her proudest achievements were her grandchildren whom she cherished deeply.
Delores is survived by her loving husband Leslie Johnson of nearly 59 years, daughters Traci Honeycutt and husband Lee, Lindsey Parker and husband Jay, Lacey Sandhoff and husband Shane, grandchildren Kimberly McKee (Jacob), Trey Johnson, Lance Honeycutt, Tatum Honeycutt, Bradley Sandhoff, Blake Sandhoff, Emily Parker, Presley Parker, Slayte Parker, Sayge Parker; and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Ray Smith (Maureen), sisters Denice Mathews (Bill), Darlene Cale (Jimmy), along with nieces and nephews who will hold her memory close.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the visitation at Pecan Grove Funeral Home in Waco on March 31 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at the same location on April 1 at 10:00 AM followed by graveside at St Paul Memorial Cemetery in Crawford.
Delores's legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will forever resonate in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in peace as her memory lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
