Della Frances Holick

DELLA FRANCES HOLICK passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024. A memorial service will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 11, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco.

Della was born in Rosebud, Texas to Robert and Della (Heller) Meier on November 27, 1932. The eldest of five children, Della attended Rosebud High School before marrying Johnnie Holick and moving to San Diego, California while her husband served in the US Navy. In San Diego, Della contributed to the Korean War effort working as a riveter on the Convair - General Dynamics assembly line. 

Following Johnnie’s discharge from the Navy, they moved to Waco, where Della embarked on a long and fulfilling career. She worked at General Tire, the W.A. Holt Company, and lastly the City of Waco Water Office, where she would work for over 30 years.

Above all, Della devoted her life to her family, raising her two sons and grandson, supervising their education and faithfully attending all of their sporting and athletic events. 

A lifelong member of the Methodist church, Della loved attending the devotional services. She loved to cook for her family, read romance novels, go fishing, play dominos and board games (bingo), tend to her flowers, and dance to Czech music.

Della was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Della Meier; and brothers A.J. and Willie Meier. She is survived by her sons Jerry Holick, Darrell Holick and his wife Judy; grandson Garrett Holick and his wife Donyale; great-granddaughters Lexi and Ella Holick; sisters Dorothy Vohl and husband Mark, and Doris Price; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.

Della will be remembered for her unwavering love, dedication to family, and the kindness she extended to all who knew her.
