Debra Sue Bruce

Debra Sue Bruce, 73, of Waco, Tx passed away on Thursday March 27,2025 surrounded by her loved ones. Debra was born March 6, 1952 in Waco Texas to Jessie and Claudia Brown.

Debra married Joseph Wayne Bruce on January 15, 1970 and for 55 years have created a beautiful family and life together. Debra is a US Navy Veteran and retired from Beverly Hills Police Dept in 2018 after serving 20 years as Chief of Police and 47 years with the department. She was the first female police chief in McLennan County.

Debra loved playing bingo with her sisters and granddaughters, riding motorcycles with her husband and a good movie on a Friday night. You could find her out shopping on the weekends and crafting in the afternoon. She loved decorating her home for the holidays and always made it special for her family who she loved deeply.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Jessie and Claudia Brown; her three brothers, Donnie, Bennie, Gene; and three sisters, Mary, Bea and Brenda.

Debra is survived by husband, Joseph Bruce; sister, Edith Turner; son, Joey Bruce and wife Deborah; her grandchildren, Meagan and Joseph Gooch, Tyler and Eric Tomlinson, Jana and Ty Arrington and Justin Koinm. She also has three beautiful great grandbabies, Dylani Kaydince Lanae, Remi Sue and Tate Ryan.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Bethany Cemetery near Moody.
