Debbie Olivo, 50, of Waco, TX, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2021. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 30, at Waco Memorial Park, 6623 I-35, Waco, TX. A visitation will be from 6 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 29, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco. Debbie will be available for viewing after 3:00 p.m., until 6:00 p.m. Friday.
Debbie was born December 25, 1970, in Waco, TX, to Manuel, and Angelita Herrera. Debbie graduated from Connally High School. She attended TSTC where she earned a certificate for Global Communications. She also attended MCC and earned a certificate for Medical Billing. Most recently, she graduated from Liberty University with a degree in Theology and Religion, and she was honored to be named the future successor to the founder and president of El Buen Pastor Ministries, her father Manuel Herrera, Sr. She filled many roles in the ministry including treasurer and secretary. She also helped in all aspects of her family church, Iglesia Rios de Augua Viva with her father and pastor, Manual Herrera, Sr. In addition to her service with the ministry, her life’s work was caring for her parents, her husband, and her grandchildren whom she and David also adopted. She took care of anyone who needed her help. That is who she was-a tremendous woman of God. She would always say, “God will give me the strength to do it; because without God, I can’t do it.”
Debbie was preceded in death by her grandparents, John L. Herrera, Sr., and Tiburcia G. Herrera; sister, Janie Herrera; and her son, David Olivo, Jr. She is survived by her husband, David Olivo, Sr., children, Rosemary Olivo, Melissa Heltenberg and husband Chris, Christy Oliver and husband, Khris, Esteven Vasquez, II, and Helena Herrera and husband Charl; her grandchildren, Ambie, Elijah, Jacob, Larry, Caleb, and Carmelo; her parents, Manuel Herrera, Sr. and Angelita Herrera; siblings, Manuel Herrera, Jr., Larry Herrera, Mary Francis Herrera, Angela Herrera, Michael Herrera, Albert Herrera, Sr., Rudy Herrera, Moses Herrera, Adam Herrera, and Eve Gutierrez.
Pallbearers will be her brothers and her nephews, Jo Jo Torres, Noel Salazar and Terrence Herrera.
