David Emley, 72 of Waco, went to be with our Lord on February 2, 2021 after a month-long struggle with the Covid virus. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 10 AM at Peace Lutheran Church, Hewitt with Pastors Rynearson and Bergman officiating. Interment will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday, February 12, 2021 from 5-7 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home.
Dave was born on July 21, 1948 to Paul R. and Evelyn (Yike) Emley in Huntington, IN. He was baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in August 17, 1948 and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Huntington, IN on August 8, 1971.
He was a 1966 graduate of Huntington High School. On August 21, 1971 he married Carol Abel at Grace Lutheran Church in Mart. They made their home in Waco after Carol’s college graduation and were blessed with three children and eight outstanding grandchildren. Dave was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church of Hewitt, TX where he served in numerous positions. The one he cherished the most was printing Braille books that went all over the world.
Dave spent over 30 years in the broadcasting field working radio and television.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his step-father Cuba Stell, brothers Jerry and Jack Emley and a nephew Jeff Emley.
Dave is survived by his wife of 49 years, children: Matthew and wife Alaina Emley, Susanne and husband Michael Mehler, and Bethany and husband Landry Williams, grandchildren: Nathan and Jack Emley; Jonah, Ethan, Naomi and Caleb Mehler; Ellie and Luke Williams.
