David E. Davis left us unexpectedly on Dec. 6th, 2024. Services will be held at Pecan Grove Funeral Home on Monday, Dec. 16th at 11:00am.
He was the most handsome, intelligent man I had ever met. And the funniest. We loved each other deeply for nearly 42 years.
Born on August 18, 1948, to Curtis Leroy and Julianne (Jan) Davis, David was educated in Waco schools. He served in the United States Navy for six years. He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam war. He served as a ‘river rat’ sweeping the MeKong river for mines. Additionally, he served on the USS Chevalier and the Robert E.Lee. Most of his civilian career was spent with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. He retired from the Metropolitan Correction Center as Facility Manager. The man could build or fix anything. He always said what he meant and meant what he said. Always! After retirement, he taught himself computer maintenance and enjoyed building and flying remote-controlled aircraft.
Dave and Ann (Van Arman) married after a whirlwind courtship in 1983. We were engaged within 4 days and married 3 months later. We lived in many places, but Waco was home.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Leroy & Jan Davis, son Jack Davis, & brother-in-law Horace (Mac) Tipps.
Dave is survived by his beloved wife, Ann Davis, his dearly loved son, Jeff and wife Amy, sister Deborah Tipps & nephew Patrick, brother Brian Davis, Amy & Steve Slaton. He loved each of his precious grandchildren and great grandchild so much. He was so very proud of all of them. And he adored his dogs, Wally, Redd and Sophie. He tolerated Lucy, our cat.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice. His choice would have been the Humane Society of Central Texas or Fuzzy Friends or the hungry guy on the street.
Love your family and friends, dear ones, because tomorrow isn’t guaranteed.
