Darla Jean Schaeper passed away, Saturday, March 21, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at her home, St. Catherine’s, 4th floor. Visitation will be Monday, March 23, 2015 from 5-7pm at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive. Service will be Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 10am by her brother-in-law Dell Bredemeyer at Pecan Grove Funeral Home with burial to follow at Waco Memorial Park.
Darla was born September 20, 1964 in Waco, Texas to Eugene and Mildred (Johnson) Schaeper. She graduated from Robinson High School and attended Friends for Life until moving to St. Catherine’s in January, 2012. Her parents are admired by all for always keeping Darla at home and including her in everything they did. Darla was an inspiration to everyone she came in contact with. She had a warm loving smile and a strong loving heart and will be missed greatly by all. But the family is at peace knowing she was greeted with open arms by her mother, Mildred Schaeper. Also, preceding her in death were her paternal grandparents Alfred and Olga Schaeper, maternal grandparents, Buford and Ophelia Johnson.
Darla is survived by her father Eugene “Sleepy” Schaeper and his special friend Dorlene Jones, sisters Carol Pruitt and husband Jerry, Beverly Bredemeyer and husband Dell, brother, Marshall Schaeper, nieces and nephews, Nicole Butler and fiance Chris Broughton, Lara Kurtz, Dakota Bredemeyer and Jeremy Pruitt. Great nephews and niece, William Broughton, Caleb Butler, Frances Mae (Kika) Kurtz, Beau Pruitt, many aunts, uncles, cousins and other family and friends. The family would like to thank 4th floor staff of St. Catherine’s for their wonderful care and love of Darla during her time there especially Lacy Ray, Heather Miller, Beth Standridge and Mary Garcia.
