Dana was born on August 30, 1957 in Hazleton, Pennsylvania to Francis and Gloria Scaramucci. Being raised in a military family took Dana on many adventures across the United States and most of Europe. Dana graduated in 1975 from Karamursel American High School in Karamursel, Turkey which led to her return to the states. Once back in the states Dana met her first husband and they started their family in Pennsylvania, where they welcomed two children before making their move to Central Texas. In Texas, they continued growing their family by adding three more children. Dana spent her life working as a Pharmacy Technician at several places before retiring from the VA Hospital in 2016. Several years before her retirement she met her current husband, Rodney, and they built their dream home and spent the remaining years with their loved ones.
Dana had a passion for poetry, art and a love of traveling but most important was her family and heritage. Around 1970, Dana was accepted into the Norman Rockwell School of Art but she declined the scholarship due to not wanting to leave her family. She loved spending her free time working on different types of art projects and looking for antiques that she could display in her home. Dana was a beautiful, intelligent, and loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to all.
Dana is preceded in death by her parents, Francis J Scaramucci and Gloria J Scaramucci, father-in-law, Earl Newell, mother-in-law, Anita Newell, and daughter, Memory Glass.
She is survived by her husband of 11 years, Rodney Newell, brothers, John Scaramucci and wife Kathie, Louis Scaramucci; sister, Gayle Brown and husband Daryl; sons, Justin Glass and his son JD, Jordan Glass and his children, Chelsie, Jayce and Leland, granddaughter, Sofia, Jack Glass and wife Stephanie and their sons, Joseph and Brennan; daughters, Autumn Glass and her daughter Avianna, Kensey Glass and her sons, Chris, Keymon and Keidrick; step-daughters, Michel Newell and Kayli Newell, also including many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Interim Hospice of Waco for caring for Dana in her final days with us. They provided comfort and peace to her and the family during this very difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s in her honor.
