Curtis Alan Queen 65, of Axtell, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Thursday, December 5, 2013. Services will be 10 am, Monday, December 9, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home 3124 Robinson Dr. with Pastor Harley Gordon officiating. Burial will follow at Axtell Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Sunday from 2-4 pm at the funeral home.
Curtis was born June 9, 1948 in Schulenberg, Texas, the son of the late Curtis Orval Queen and Henrietta Allison Waldo. He attended LaVega schools. He was a hardworking man who was looking forward to retirement in June. He lived in the Waco, Robinson and Axtell area all of his life except for one year in Germany and one year in Vietnam serving in the U.S. Army. He was a truck driver for several of the local road construction companies around Waco. He was working for Big Creek Construction Company at the time of his death. In more recent years he enjoyed raising cattle and co-owning C & N Axtell store with his wife Nancy. Curtis was married to his wife, Nancy Neal on March 29, 1986.
Mr. Queen is survived by his wife of 27 years, Nancy, his son Christopher Queen, two step sons Ricky Powell and Kevin Powell; four grandson's Gus, Hunter and Ben Queen and Brandon Powell; 2 granddaughters, Emilee Powell and Hayley Payne; his sister, Connie Savell and her husband James; his faithful companions, Ginger and Princes.
