Curtis Calvin Holmes Jr. of Kosse went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, May 8, 2015. A graveside service will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 12, at Valley Mills Cemetery, with Pastor Robert Nelson officiating. A Celebration of Life will be at 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 12, at Christian Life Church, 3015 Robinson Dr. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, May 11, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr. Waco. Curtis worked as a self-employed carpenter and was Co-Pastor of Morning Star Christian Fellowship Church in Kosse, Texas. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, and drag racing at Prairie Hill Dragway. Curtis is preceded in death by his grandparents; Jesse and Lois Holmes, and Aubrey and Pinnice DuBose; and his uncle, Jerry Holmes whom he loved as a father. He is survived by his parents; Curtis and Sharon Holmes of Kosse, his children; Ashley Latham and husband Jeremy of Groesbeck, Nicole Bowen and husband Steve of Groesbeck, Curtis James Holmes of Kosse, and Micah Holmes of Bellmead, his grandchildren; Anaya Latham, Makailla Bowen, and Jaelynn Latham of Groesbeck, his sisters; Virginia King and husband Larry of Kosse, Sherry Baker and husband Gary of Waco, and Audrey Forde and husband Barry of Kosse, and his wife; Connie Holmes of Bellmead. Curtis is also survived by his nephew Gary Allen whom he loved and helped raise as his son, nephew Anthony Baker, and nieces Samantha Wetzel, Ashley King and Kayla Baker, as well as numerous aunts, cousins, and great nieces and nephews, and close friends who loved him very much.
