Connie was born on November 8, 1922, in Abbott, Texas, to Delbert and Fannie Diggs. Mrs. Tanner was “Sister” to her parents and siblings, but she was Connie to everyone else. She married Edwin Marcel Tanner in April, 1942, and they celebrated 62 years of marriage before Edwin died on Feb. 1, 2004.
Connie was a lifelong member of North Waco Baptist Church and served as its treasurer in the last years of her life before she became ill. She dearly loved baseball, from little league, high school, and college, but she especially loved the Houston Astros and the Texas Rangers. She bowled until she was 86 years old. Another great love was flowers, and at one time, she owned her own flower shop.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Lerlene Meyerhoff; and a brother, Delbert Diggs; her husband, Edwin Tanner; and infant grandson, Ryan Henager.
She is survived by her children, Ann Henager and husband Doug; sons, Donald Tanner, and Ronald Tanner and wife Charlotte; daughter, Kathy Carter; sisters, Jo Dunn and Wanda Sauls; grandchildren, Kevin Henager and wife Tammy; Derek Henager; and Karri Henager; Tommy Tanner, Theresa Tanner, and Cindy Tanner; Tami Nutt and husband Scott; and Kristen Barron; her great-grandchildren Ashley Henager, Aaliyah Tanner, Terry Tanner, Chris Tanner, Kileisha Tanner, T.J. Tanner, and Ashley Tanner; along with four great-great-grandchildren, T’Najah, Rhaylee, Kylee, and Noah.
The family wants to thank Providence Hospice, Wesley Woods and Providence Hospital for taking such good care of our precious mother and allowing her to go to God in peace.
