Clarence Clarke "Clarkie" Farney, 79, of Lorena, passed away at a Temple Hospital Tuesday, April 20, 2010. A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 23, at Chilton Cemetery with Pastor Michael Moore and Chilton Masonic Lodge leading services. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 22, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home 3124 Robinson Drive.
Clarence was born Feb. 18, 1931, in Golinda Texas, to Clarence B. and Ludie Farney. He was baptized at the age of 18, at Golinda Baptist Church. He attended Rosenthal Grammar School, and graduated from Waco Tech in 1948. He later graduated from TSTC, majoring in refrigeration, AC, and welding. He retired from Waco school systems in 1986. He was a farmer, and recently was raising miniature donkeys. He was a member of the Chilton Masonic Lodge, and received his 25, and 50 service pen. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, traveling, cooking, music, history, and most importantly his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Farney; son, Milton Farney and wife, Julia; daughter, Patti Halbert and husband, Rayburn; three grandchildren, Christopher Farney and wife, Melissa, Mynda Residori and husband, Brad, and Rebecca Chapman and husband, William; 11 great-grandchildren.
