Chris Cruz Contreras

Chris C. Contreras, 75, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2025. Visitation will be from 6-8pm, Tuesday, March 18, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, with the rosary recited at 7pm. The funeral mass will be held at 10am, Wednesday, March 19, at St. Francis on the Brazos, with Rev. J Eduardo Jazo as celebrant.

Chris was born August 7, 1949, to Thomas A. and Aurora Dora (Cruz) Contreras, in Waco, TX. He served his country in the US AirForce. Chris worked at TSTI as a fireman for many years, retiring in 1999. He also worked as a landscaper around the Waco area. Chris enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Chris was a wonderful dancer and loved listening to all music. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, farming and hanging out with his family.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Arthur Contreras, siblings, Helen Herrera, Josie Rodriguez, and Thomas Contreras, Jr along with two infant brothers, Gilbert and Joe Contreras.

He is survived by his wife, Selsa Perez Contreras; children, Sylvia Childers and husband Johnny, Nora Martinez and husband Max, Johnny Joe Contreras, Chris Contreras Jr., daughter-in-law, Jennifer Contreras, Naomi Marciel, Crystal Zimmerman, Francisco Contreras, Ludi Salinas and husband Adrian, and Larry Perez and wife Windy. He is also survived by his siblings, Connie Gutierrez, Paula Munoz and husband Joe, Janie Linkious and husband Calvin, Dora Becerra and husband David, and Larry Contreras; along with an abundance of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other family and friends.
