Cecil G. Alexander, 83, of Waco, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Providence Hospice Place. Funeral services will be 10 am, Monday, December 29 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr., Waco, with Larry Steve Bolton to officiate. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be Sunday, December 28 from 5-7 pm at the funeral home.
Cecil was born January 10, 1931 in Bosque County, Texas to John B. and Jessie Mae (Grant) Alexander. He was one of 10 children. Cecil graduated from Mosheim High School and joined the United States Navy after graduating. He was a proud Navy veteran who served in the Korean War. On August 16, 1954, his life would change forever, when he married the love of his life, Dorris Bolton. Together he and Dorris raised 2 sons, Mark and Keith.
Cecil was a member of the First Apostolic Church in Waco. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing and watching basketball. Cecil loved playing dominoes and made sure his children and grandchildren were well skilled at the game of 42, in fact, Cecil was the 42 Domino champion! He was a loving grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Cecil will be sorely missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Dorris; 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sons, Mark Alexander and wife Susan and Keith Alexander and wife Frances all of Waco; grandchildren, Jennifer Owens and husband Steven, Stephanie Johnson and husband Lance, Tiffany McQueen and husband Brian, Mark Alexander and Ashley Dailey, Michael Alexander and Blakelee Cranfill; great-grandchildren, Braden Owens, Cora Owens, Katelyn Johnson, Alyssa McQueen, Corbin McQueen and Jaidan Dailey; sisters, Joyce Williams and Dixie Moore; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends that Cecil considered part of his family.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. William Pitts and nurse Kim Woodliff for the outstanding care provided to Cecil.
