Catherine Elizabeth Carlson, age 70, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2014 with her loving husband by her side.
Catherine’s celebration of life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr., Waco, Texas. Visitation will be Friday, October 3 from 6pm to 8pm at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at an 11:00 a.m. graveside service on Saturday, October 11, 2014 in Live Oak, Florida.
Catherine was born in Live Oak, Florida on January 6, 1944 to Merle Elizabeth Weaver and John Henry Schneider. She married the love of her life, Larry Morris Carlson, at age 16 and cared for her children, teaching them to respect everyone and always lend a helping hand. Throughout their life together, they lived in numerous states across the US and traveled to many more. Once the kids were older and the family settled in Garland, TX, she worked for K-Mart as the Personnel Manager for the Richardson store. She retired from K-Mart and worked as an office manager for several companies, finishing her working career at the Galaxy Counseling Center in Garland by completely retiring in 1999. Once retired, she and Larry moved to Robinson, TX to keep up with their grandchildren. She loved her time at beaches and her greatest joy was to support others in need.
Catherine is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived her husband of 54 years, Larry; children, Sharon Elizabeth Carlson Blanchard and husband, Brad, John Edward Carlson and wife, Teresa; grandchildren, Kristen Elizabeth Blanchard Holland and husband, Sam, Collin Dean Blanchard; and great grandson Cohen William Holland. Catherine is also survived by her Florida family: her sister, Iris Robertson of Tampa, her brother, John Paul Schneider and wife, Betty of Live Oak, and her sister-in-law, Ann Carlson of Gainesville along with many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her Aunt Imogene Tiffin of Jacksonville along with many cousins.
