Caroline Pelham Sosebee, 75, of Hewitt, Texas, stepped into heaven on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. Her beautiful life will be celebrated with a memorial service on Saturday, December 14, at 2:00 pm at Abiding Life Church in Whitney, Texas.
Caroline was born on January 1, 1949, in Whitney, Texas to Harold and Maureen (Carmichael) Pelham. On September 2, 1967, soon after graduation from Whitney High School, she married her high school sweetheart, Travis Lyndol Sosebee.
Caroline and Travis continued to make their home in Whitney for the majority of their 49 wonderful years of marriage.
Caroline had a variety of jobs in the legal and law enforcement fields with the most prominent being that of Justice of the Peace for Hill County as well as D.A.R.E. officer with the Hill County Sheriff’s Department.
But her greatest role was that of being wife to Travis, mother to her sons, and Grammy to her grandchildren.
Caroline never met a stranger, preferred hugs to handshakes, and was “Mom” or “Grammy” to more than she could count. She spoke words of blessing and life into her family, friends, and fellow church members, and with the love of Jesus she made each one feel seen, cherished, and loved.
Caroline is preceded in death by her parents, her step-dad Clyde Owens, brothers William “Bud” Pelham, Robert Pelham, Charles Pelham and Kenneth Pelham, her sister Evelyn Rust, daughter-in-law Elizabeth Sosebee, and her dear husband Travis.
She is survived by her sister Jane Dickerson and husband, Gary, brother Johnny Pelham and wife, Joyce, many beloved nieces and nephews, and her three sons- Len and wife, Melissa, of Big Spring, Christopher L. and wife, Michelle, of Lubbock, and Christopher D. and wife, Sade, of Whitney, as well as ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren—Abigail, Katie (and fiancé A.J.), John Luke (and wife Collette), Victoria (and fiancé Ashton), Jacob, Caroline (and husband Britton), Jenna (and husband Kyle), Benjamin, Brooklyn, Riley, Caleb, Jack, Charles and Gwen.
Her affinity for high heels and her adoration of her family was only outdone by her love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her greatest joy came from lifting her hands in praise to the One who saved, rescued, and redeemed her. We who loved her take comfort in knowing Caroline is experiencing a greater peace than she has ever known as she is now truly worshipping at the feet of Jesus.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that a memorial gift be made to Whitney Fellowship Church in Whitney, Texas, or Brazos Meadows Baptist Church in Hewitt, Texas.
